We develop a highly conductive and mechanically robust electromagnetic interference shielding (EMIS) nanocomposite based on doped carbon nanotube (CNT)/conjugated polymer (CP). A CP, poly[2-([2,2’-bithiophen]-5-yl)-5,10-bis(5-octylpentadecyl)-5,10-dihydroindolo[3,2-b]indole] (PID-BT), is synthesized and served as a surfactant for CNT dispersion and post-doping. The resulting EMIS nanocomposite (PID-BT/CNT) with a thickness of 23 um exhibits outstanding electrical conductivity (4000 S/cm) and EMIS effectiveness (77 dB) in the X-band range. Additionally, it demonstrates remarkable mechanical properties (Young's modulus of 15.77 GPa and tensile strength of 144.2 MPa), which are significantly higher than those of a reference containing only CNT (1.37 GPa and 9.68 MPa). Furthermore, it shows exceptional folding reliability, enduring over 200,000 folding/unfolding cycles. A mechanism underlying improved EMIS and mechanical properties and folding reliability is also proposed using spectroscopic and morphological analyses. |
